Uber and High Street Car Park
Horley’s Town and Borough Councillors have been very concerned by the behaviour of some of the Uber partner-drivers in the High Street Car Park. Since Reigate and Banstead Borough Council contracted with Uber to let 60 spaces in the car park on 1 November 2016, there have been many instances of anti-social behaviour, excessive litter etc. The complaints from residents and local business owners have increased. All our town’s stakeholders find these issues completely unacceptable.
At a meeting with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council’s Parking Enforcement Team on 5 January there was a review around the further measures Uber have taken to improve the situation. Uber have inserted detailed instructions for the use of the car park on their driver app (see below), and they will also install a large sign at its entrance which will reinforce the message.
However, Horley’s Borough and Town members have additionally requested a 14-day action plan from the Parking Enforcement Team to robustly manage instances of anti-social behaviour. During that time Councillors and Civil Enforcement Officers will continue to make frequent visits to the car park to ensure that the process is well managed. If, at the end of that period, there is no improvement then members of both councils will press for the contract with Uber to be terminated.

Keep the car park tidy and throw all gum and litter etc in the bin provided.

Be ready to show your PDA account screen to any enforcers who ask for it
PLEASE NOTE: You will be liable to a fine from the council if you do not abide by the rules of the car park. This is a council car park NOT an Uber car park, so please respect the space so that we can continue using it.

The queue or trips from Gatwick Airport is now at the HIGH STREET CAR PARK, HORLEY RH6 7BJ.Only partner-drivers inside the car park will be in the queue so mak sure to find an UBER-DESIGNATED PARKING SPACE.Use of the car park is dependent on available spaces in the Uber-designated area.We have provided WC facilities.
