Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has honoured 82 individuals with awards for their selfless service to the borough and its communities.
49 individuals and teams were recognised last night (Wednesday 31 July 2024) for voluntary efforts in various categories, with a further 33 receiving acknowledgements for long service (10 years or more) at a previous event held on 11 July. The two award ceremonies, both held at the Town Hall, were organised by the Council.
Presenting the awards, the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Cllr Eddy Humphreys who alongside the Mayoress Sarah Humphreys, said: “I have read all your stories and they are inspirational. As I have said before, the work that volunteers do in our communities is immeasurable. We are all very grateful and I want to thank you all for giving so much of your time up to make a difference in other people’s lives. You are an inspiration to us all.”
The awards ceremony was split into two events this year to accommodate the number of nominees and cater for the Long Service Award specifically introduced to commemorate the Council’s 50th anniversary.
