Temporary change to rail services

Update from GTR

"We want to update you on a temporary change to train services on Monday 12 June 2023. The following four changes are expected to apply:

  1. Gatwick Express services between Brighton and London Victoria will be suspended with customers to use alternative Thameslink and Southern services.
  2. Southern services between London Victoria and Horsham, Bognor Regis, Portsmouth and Southampton (these trains are formed by dividing or joining at Horsham) will run between the south coast, Horsham and Gatwick Airport only, with customers to change at Three Bridges or Gatwick for onwards journeys to London.
  3. East Croydon to London Bridge via Tulse Hill services will start and terminate at Selhurst.
  4. Watford Junction to East Croydon services will be extended to South Croydon.

The cause is an inoperable set of points, used by trains to change tracks, near East Croydon station. This means that access to three of East Croydon’s six platforms is limited. This in turn reduces the number of trains that can run through the station each hour as it creates a bottleneck. As a result, we have made the changes to services detailed above to ensure customers can rely on services and planned journey times.

Changes are being updated to www.nationalrail.co.uk and we are encouraging customers to plan their journeys. We are very sorry for any disruption to our customers’ travel plans.

The team from Network Rail is working on a repair as quickly as possible, however, it is clear that it will not, unfortunately, be completed tonight.

We will keep customers updated on repairs at www.southernrailway.com and if you have any questions, please let us know at GTRPublicAffairs@gtrailway.com"
