Reigate & Banstead Mayor pays tribute to Her Majesty The Queen
Following the announcement of the sad passing of Her Majesty The Queen, the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Cllr Frank Kelly, has paid tribute.
The Mayor said: "I and my council colleagues are extremely saddened by the news of Her Majesty The Queen’s sad passing. She will be remembered for her tireless service to our nation over her 70 years on the throne. Her Majesty’s service has been both inspirational and exemplary and her loss will be keenly felt by us all.
"This is a particularly sad time, and our thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen’s family, friends and all those who grieve her passing.
“I will be sending a letter of condolence to The Palace on behalf of all those who live and work in the Borough of Reigate & Banstead.
“As a mark of respect, the Union Flag at the Town Hall, Reigate is being flown at half-mast during the period of national mourning and The Council will hold a minute silence at its next Council meeting.”
Her Majesty has paid a number of visits to the borough over the years, most recently to the reopening of the modernised East Surrey College, Redhill, in 2011 with His Royal Highness The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
