Gatwick Greenspace Partnership Volunteers out and about

A big “Thank You” to the volunteers who came and supported Gatwick Greenspace recently.

Volunteers re-coppiced the Willows in the small seasonal pond near the new play area and started to lay some of the surrounding Blackthorn, both to increase light levels and create more of a hedge around the pond. Five large bags full of rubbish from the pond area and neighbouring Common Field were also collected.

Volunteers said that there were no signs of Frog or Toad spawn in the pond at the time, but it was nice to see a Red Kite circling low overhead that morning.

The next task date is scheduled for Sunday 13th March and the task will be to plant some new hedgerow whips along the new spine path. If you are interested in getting involved please contact: KevinLerwill@sussexwt.org.uk for more information.
