Town Council re-launches Grants Scheme for 2008

At its recent Finance Committee meeting, the Town Council has approved the re-launch of its Grants Scheme for 2008.

Applicants are invited to apply for an application form to apply for financial assistance, for what they consider to be a worthwhile project. The annual deadline for receipt of completed grant applications is close of business Monday 30 June 2008. The Awards Committee will then consider all the submissions and announce the successful applicants later in September

Grants can be made for capital or revenue expenditure or special projects although it is prevented by statute from giving financial assistance to individuals.

In considering applications for financial assistance, the Council will take into account the purpose for which the grant is required, the organisation’s accounts, how the grant will benefit the residents of Horley, other bodies to which applications for financial assistance have been made, together with any other supporting information.

The maximum figure payable for grants payable will be £1,000. The application form, accounts and other information may be copied and placed on the public agenda for the council’s meeting.

Chairman of the Council, Council Simon Marshall added “we are pleased to be able to relaunch this scheme in 2008. We really look forward to receiving some exciting and worthwhile projects for consideration. Local organisations occasionally approached us in the past, but this scheme has allowed us to consider applications from the local community at the same time”.

Application forms are available from the Council Offices on request.
