South East in Bloom
We are delighted to announce that Horley won a silver award at this year’s South East in Bloom awards. The award was primarily made for the town’s hanging basket displays, the cleanliness of the town and the Church Road allotments. It is many years since Horley last entered the competition and the first time that the town has had any success. Cllr Simon Marshall, the Town’s Mayor, received the award from former Olympic swimmer, Duncan Goodhew, at a special awards ceremony at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley on Wednesday 5 September 2007. Cllr Marshall added, “I am delighted that Horley was able to receive this prestigious award, it has been worth all the planning and hard work.”
Overall, the Borough of Reigate & Banstead scooped five awards in this year’s competition. “This excellent result shows that Reigate & Banstead has an environment to be proud of" said Cllr Dr Lynne Hack, Leader of the Borough Council.
