Town Council re-launches new 2007 Grants Scheme

The Town Council has approved the re-launch of its Grants Scheme for 2007.

Applicants are invited to apply for an application form to apply for financial assistance, for what they consider to be a worthwhile project. The annual deadline for receipt of completed grant applications is close of business Friday 29 June 2007. The Awards Committee will then consider all the submissions and announce the successful applicants later in September.

Grants can be made for capital or revenue expenditure or special projects although it is prevented by statute from giving financial assistance to individuals.

In considering applications for financial assistance, the Council will take into account the purpose for which the grant is required, the organisation’s accounts, how the grant will benefit the residents of Horley, other bodies to which applications for financial assistance have been made, together with any other supporting information.

The maximum figure payable for grants payable will be £1,000. The application form, accounts and other information may be copied and placed on the public agenda for the council’s meeting.

Chairman of the Council, Councillor Michael Miller, stated "we are very pleased that we are able to relaunch the grants scheme. Once again we hope some exciting and worthwhile projects will be brought before the council for consideration. Organisations had previously approached us in the past on an ad hoc basis, but this scheme does allow us to consider fairly all parts of the local community".
